I have never done affiliate marketing. For this post, I joined the Amazon Associates program. I can choose one of 22 link and “widget” formats. (Widgets look like the one in the graphic above and are “objects on a computer screen the user interacts with” according to Wikipedia). I can’t insert widgets on this blog because my free WordPress account does not accept Java or Flash code. I can, however, create link versions of Amazon books I like, as below.

And I can create a link to a single book, with whatever text I wish.

If you click one of these links and decide to buy the book, I get a small commission. That’s the story of affiliate marketing. If I were really serious about this, I’d be raving about the book, adding cover graphics and more.
