Peg & Mark- I will be at HMS Media next week to have more of my ballets made into 2 - 3 minute clips for Quicktime. At that time, I will ask about embedding and I will ration my release of the videos, as suggested.
Thanks for your help,
Harriet

Harriet,

One more recommendation: make your videos “embeddable.” Many YouTube videos are can be embedded in blogs and websites. The advantage is that it is easier to share and showcase the video.

That is a setting when you upload it. Actually, the video stays on YouTube. Embedding just links to it with a player, so it is viewed on the blog or site. I noticed yours are not when I went to create this post. I had to use a photo and link to the post. If the viewer clicks the dancer photo, he or she is taken to YouTube, where then can view it.

I wanted to embed your video, as I have done others. For example, YoChicago.com did a video of Lake Point Tower’s lobby and uploaded it to YouTube. Merely copying a small paragraph of code, I can paste it on to the Lake Point Tower 40th anniversary blog. Click the arrow and watch the video, right on that blog. http://lakepointtower.wordpress.com/2009/11/17/yochicago-video-on-lake-point-towers-new-lobby/

Giving viewers the option to embed enables them to promote your video.

Great advice. One thing about YouTube. Very few videos actually go viral. For the most part, you need to continually add content to draw viewers. Rather than add 10 videos, then nothing for a quarter, add one a week for 10 weeks. Then notify your network each week that you have added another video.
