Great Video Testimonials For Events – How To Create and Use Them

Would you like to create great video testimonials of events or presentations?  Do you want to know how best to use them online?  That’s the topic of today’s post and video.

Video testimonials are powerful when used in social to generate social proof and encourage viewers to contact you.  Since they are important to social lead generation, I’m covering them here.

I learned about these testimonial tips at VidCon 2018, a convention for online video creators originally started by YouTube.  These tips are from Jill Schiefelbein, and I’ll link to a video and book of hers at the end.

In this video, I’m going to go through her tips on what to ask and how to use testimonials videos.  As an example, I’m going to GIVE the kind of testimonial she describes ABOUT the VIDCON EVENT itself.

What To Ask

Jill lists 9 questions you might ask to elicit interesting responses from interviewees.  But she recommends that you only ask each person 2-3 of them.

If you come as a creator to vidcom, the experience will shake up your current strategy and processes. This comes from all you learn in the practical sessions, and also from all the other creators who will inspire and stimulate your own work.

How To Use Great Video Testimonials

  • Combine clips of a bunch of people answering same question one video
  • In other videos, use an audio testimonial with person’s name and title in lower thirds
  • Embed on Vimeo, not YouTube, because testimonial views are lower on channel and will lower your overall average
  • Get a transcript from Rev.com to excerpt in clips and words to use in social and on your website
